Kobalt Signs The Kooks to Recordings Deal

Kobalt Music, an independent music services company, built for artists, songwriters, publishers and labels as an alternative to the traditional music business model, announced today they have signed a multi-faceted worldwide label services deal with UK pop/rock band, The Kooks. The signing offers The Kooks a full range of services including digital and physical distribution, marketing, synch licensing, and more.

Emerging as fixtures of the British, guitar-based rock movement in 2004, the Kooks’ debut record, Inside In/Inside Out, went five-times Platinum. In 2006, the band picked up mainstream momentum after winning Best UK & Ireland Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards and earning a Brit Award nomination for their single “She Moves in Her Own Way.” Two years later, their album, Konk, debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart.

Despite lineup changes, the band broke new ground in 2014, collaborating with hip-hop producer Inflo on their fourth album, Listen. Their upcoming fifth album, featuring singer and chief songwriter Luke Pritchard, guitarist Hugh Harris, bassist Peter Denton, and drummer Alexis Nunez, will be a return to their classic songwriting roots. The band also produced a compilation album entitled The Best Of… So Far this year and are currently touring in support of the record.
