NEW YORK - August 2, 2018 – Kobalt announced today that it has taken over the back catalog of Grammy-winning DJ, songwriter, producer, and remixer David Guetta. The worldwide agreement includes publishing administration, including global synch and creative support services, for Guetta’s back catalog, including hits such as “I Gotta Feeling,” “Titanium,” “Sexy Bitch,” “2U,” “Dangerous,” “One Last Time,” “Without You,” “Turn Me On,” “Hey Mama, and more.
Kobalt Founder and CEO, Willard Ahdritz, stated: “David’s track record speaks for itself. He’s a rare breed – a global superstar who’s worked with the world’s biggest artists and created hit after hit. David and his business manager, Jean-Charles, have built an amazing collection of great music over the past 15 years and it will continue to live on for years to come. It’s an honor to represent his music as part of the Kobalt family.”
President and Chief Revenue Officer of Kobalt, Laurent Hubert, added: “David Guetta is a visionary and seminal artist, DJ, and pioneer with a magnificent catalog and a history of incredible collaborations.”
Beginning in the 1990s, French native Guetta, who started his career in the early Paris club scene, became a fixture on the legendary Island Ibiza as a prominent DJ and has remained his residency at Pacha with his F*** Me I’m Famous concept ever since. He also is the only DJ on the island to host a second night, called BIG, at the incredible outdoor venue Ushuaia.
After releasing his debut album in 2002, Guetta launched collaborations including the #1 hit “I Gotta Feeling” with the Black Eyed Peas, “Titanium” featuring Sia, and more.
Over the last three decades, David Guetta has sold over nine million albums and 30 million singles worldwide, his music has been streamed over 8 billion times through all DSP’s and he won two Grammy Awards in the category of Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical (2010 and 2011). He was a pioneer in his genre and has released six studio albums, including One Love, which was nominated for a Best Dance/Electronic Album Grammy in 2010. David Guetta is now working on his 7th studio album to be released this year.
“We’ve built and cherished this catalog over more than 15 years,” says Jean-Charles Carré, David Guetta’s business manager and partner, and I’m delighted to transmit it on to the expert hands of Kobalt.”
