Grammy-Nominated and Youngest Recipient of the BRIT “Producer of the Year” Joins Kobalt

January 20, 2021 - Kobalt today announced that FRED has been signed to an international neighbouring rights deal. FRED joins Kobalt for a neighbouring rights deal that offers the producer a full range of global administration and royalty maximization services.

FRED is behind the hits heard on timeless records via his production and artist projects. In 2019, FRED became the youngest ever BRIT award winner, 24, for Producer of the Year. Before the age of 25, he had racked up 8 Top 10 singles, and 6 #1’s, including back to back biggest-selling songs of the summer. Most recently, Headie One’s “Aint It Different" feat. Stormzy & AJ Tracey, and AJ Tracey’s "West Ten” have joined that Top 10 list. FRED’s production work encompasses songs with Ed Sheeran, Burna Boy, FKA Twigs, Khalid, Roots Manuva and many more.

Said Kobalt Neighbouring Rights CEO, Ann Tausis, “FRED is a producer whose name is currently on everyone's lips, and even more so after what he has achieved over the last couple of years. His creative depth knows no bounds and can be heard on some truly timeless records throughout both his producer and artist projects.”

Added Fred’s manager, Alex Gibson, “Fred & I are very excited to build the next phase of his career in partnership with Kobalt.”

Kobalt Neighbouring Rights is the largest neighbouring rights agent in the world, representing over 2,000 performers. Through efficient and diligent direct registration and collection around the globe, Kobalt ensures accurate and speedy royalty payments to clients. This, combined with real time royalty updates, transparent reporting, and personal service makes Kobalt an unrivalled partner for neighbouring rights collection. Other chart-topping hitmakers that have entrusted Kobalt to administer their neighbouring rights income around the world include A$AP Rocky, The Chainsmokers, Lewis Capaldi, Kygo, Lil Wayne, Sia, Young Thug, and more.

FRED ends 2020 with two significant dance records to his name, Romy’s “Lifetime” and Jayda G’s “Both of Us”, both of which are in the Guardian’s Top 20 songs of 2020, and the latter earning him his second Grammy nomination.  Fred also started to release his own records including the critically acclaimed joint mixtape “Gang” with Headie One.
