Kobalt Clients Win Big at 2017 Grammys
Last night the world came together for one of the most celebrated and revered nights in the music industry — the Grammys. Now, while the Grammys is always a monumental event for the industry as a whole, it’s a very big night for our very own Kobalt family. Our incredible clients took home numerous awards including Album of the Year, Best Dance/Electronic Album, Best Urban Contemporary Album and many others.
Below is a full list of all Kobalt Grammy winners from Sunday night.
Kobalt Music Publishing (KMP) clients Danger Mouse, Max Martin and Ariel Rechtshaid earned the prestigious Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album awards for 25 by Adele. This is also a win for the Kobalt Neighbouring Rights Division respectively.
For Lemonade by Beyoncé, recent signings Mike Will Made-It and Vincent Berry II, along with clients Jonny Coffer (via B-Unique), Alex Delicata, Frank Tirado (via Defend Music) and Rashad Muhammad (via Disney), earned the distinguished Best Urban Contemporary Album.
Best R&B Performance went to Kobalt Music Publishing writer, Raphael Saadiq for the song, “Cranes in the Sky,” by Solange.
Kobalt Neighbouring Rights client, Lil Wayne was featured along with 2 Chainz on Chance the Rapper’s hit single, “No Problem,” which won for Best Rap Performance.
Recent signing, Kirk Franklin was awarded Best Gospel Performance/Song for “God Provides” and then stole the show in his category by winning Best Gospel Album for Losing My Religion.
Kobalt writer (via Prescription Songs) Emily Warren took the award for Best Dance Recording for, “Don’t Let Me Down” by The Chainsmokers, a Kobalt Neighbouring Rights client, featuring Daya.
Kobalt artist Flume (via Future Classic), and clients Beck, Little Dragon and Peter Wade won for Best Dance/Electronic Album, Skin by Flume.
Within the Music for Visual Media field, Max Martin, Shellback and Justin Timberlake (with Kobalt Neighbouring Rights) won for Best Song Written for Visual Media, “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” with Gwen Stefani as the featured artist within the video.
Kobalt also took home Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media for “Miles Ahead” by Miles Davis & Various Artists, credit to artist/writer, Miles Davis and writers, Robert Glasper and Pharoahe Monch.
Legendary country writer Vince Gill took home a songwriter award for Best American Roots Song, “Kid Sister” by The Time Jumpers and Kobalt Neighbouring Rights Client, Greg Kurstin won for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical
